Cochrane Cup
Cochrane Rangers,
The Cochrane Cup is nearly upon us and we still have some volunteering opportunities! Please consider helping out as it is a good cause and helps raise funds for your club!
If you can donate a couple of hours of your time, we would love to have you. The two jobs that we have, are:
Tournament Office - answer questions, drink beer, count scores, socialize!
Beer Tent - sell tickets, serve beverages, socialize!!
Both are good fun jobs and you also get a free, custom made, one-of-a-kind, Cochrane Cup T-Shirt!!
Please help your club, it's a lot of fun and a great way to meet people!!
Contact Tristan Norman for more details tristannorman@hotmail.com

On the pitch last week
Womens Side
The Classic Premier ladies dominated a game on Wednesday, but couldn't find the back of the net and ended in a 0-0 tie. Right now the team is sitting in second place in their division.
The Division Two ladies had a similiar game, but unfortunately lost 1-0. Currently they are sitting in the middle of the pack, which is great for their first year in this division.
The Division Six ladies lost their last game 4-2 and are sitting in the middle of the pack.
The U18 Girls beat the SW Sting 3-0 in the first playoff game. Played great soccer in the second half with Erin Greeves scoring and excelling breakaway goal and assisted Nikki Cook for her two goals.
Mens Side
The Div. 1 lost 2-1 to Brothers with the last kick of the game. A very close game, but they just couldn't score at the right time. Nathan Templton had an excellent game in goal.
Both the Div. 1 and Div. 4 men are struggling a bit this season and are sitting near the bottom of their division.
The Over 35A team is sitting middle of the pack.
The Over 35B team had an exciting game last Monday against Explorers45 in the Centennial Cup. Cochrane was helped by a resilient defensive line commanded by Greg Barclay and a barrage of goals from Ziad Dagher, Yuri Marmuta, Gordon MacDonald and Sergy Prokushev.
In league play the Over35B team met the Calgary United Old Boys, who unfortunately could only field a team of eight and lost 8-0 to the Rangers
Currently the Over35B team is sitting second in their division.
The Over 45 team played the Red Devils and came from behind to a 3-3 draw. The Rangers dominated play in the second half and were helped by Terry Norman, who scored all three of their goals.

Rangers News
Last Week
Just a couple of games to report on:
Over 45 Mens
O 45 A team played against the Rangers FC to a 2:2 draw.
They had lots of chances to put the competition away and send them home with no points, but in the end the Rangers had to come from behind for the tie with only a few minutes left.
Over 35B Team
As reported by Manager Greg Barclay
Our first goal was assisted by Bart Frasca against the SWU Relics Monday night who sent a perfectly weighted pass to the feet of Ziad Dagher who slotted his first of the season under the diving goalkeeper. The Relics tied it up on a corner kick and then they took the lead when John Rovere pulled a calf muscle and lost the Striker who scored a great goal past our keeper Douwe Van der Molen. Late in the second half with a minute to go Gordon MacDonald managed to break out of his defensive position and out onto his preferred right wing where he took a free kick, bound for the top left corner only to be palmed out by the wrong footed goalkeeper. The ball fell to the feet of Kurt Sollid who blasted the ball at the recovering keeper, the rebound then came to Sergi Proskushev who made no mistake and buried the ball into the back of the net to tie the game in the dying minutes.....
Div 6 - Womens
The women had a tough game against a tough team and fell 0-5.
Classic Premier - Womens
Won their game on Sunday 2-0
There are no games for the rest of the week. Enjoy your long weekend and Happy Canada Day.

Last week on the Pitch
The rain let up a little bit for a few games to take place.
Here is a report from Patrick Ryan, coach of the Mens Div. 1 team and the Girls U18.
Mens Div 1 played against Vipers and lost 2-1 - very close game. Had lots of chances, just couldn't put the game away.
U18 girls played a very good Blizzard team and were blown away in the first half giving up 6 goals, but played a great second half to lsoe 7-1. The score line doesn't do them justice, as we had 4 great chances in the second half - one on one vs the keeper - to make the score a lot closer.
The Over 45 Mens team had a game last Saturday against Serbia and ended in a 3-3 tie. Gunther thought they should have won the game, but couldn't captalize on numerous chances.
The Over 35 Mens B team played the Intrepid Hoods in a Centennial Cup game and won 3-1 last Monday night. On Saturday the 18th, they played Fusion FC and won 3-0
The Womens Div. 2 had a successful game on home field last Tuesday winning 3-0.
The Womens Classic Premier won both their games last week 4-1 and 8-0, with the later coming against a short handed team.

Also with all the rain please make sure you check the rain out line after 4pm 851-2552.

Rangers Last Week
The season has barely begun, but we've already had a few games.
The Mens Div. 1 has played two games.
They lost the first game 5-2 against a good young team, who scored a couple of soft goals, but the players played hard.
The second game ended in a tie, 2-2 and according to their coach Patrick Ryan, they dominated possession and should have put game away before they were awarded a dubious penalty. They scored with a long range free kick with ten minutes left. Two points dropped from a strong
performance.
The Ladies Div. 2 started their season in a new division with a win. According to coach Jason Petrovic, the game was a real battle with all three goals coming in the last 8 minutes.
The Classic Premier Ladies have played two games. They won their first, winning 4-0, with Sarah Tas scoring a hat trick. Their second game was also a victory with a 4-1 final score thanks to two goals by Rosanna Hannia.
The Ladies Div. 6 began their season with a 2-0 victory. With the goal of being promoted this year, they're off to a good start.
This Week the Men's Div 4 are playing on our Cochrane Fields on Wednesday, May 18 at 7pm. If you can come down to cheer the team on.
Also the Calendar is up to date for the month of May and practices for June. I will try to keep it as up to date as possible, but last minute changes might not make it. Please refer to team manager for those.

CHRISTMAS PARTY 2010
The Cochrane Rangers welcomed the Christmas season by gathering to share some holiday cheer. About 90-100 Rangers and their significant others met at AC's Restaurant and Lounge on Thursday December 9th. We were treated to the cool sounds of BA's DJ services (www.ba-dj-services.webs.com) and tasty pizza from AC's. Club members and local Cochrane businesses generously donated to our silent auction items and door prizes. Just over $1600 was raised for the club at this event. The elves who organized this gathering (Danna Van Iderstine, Dena Sykes, Edna Nystrom, & Sarah Tas) would like to say thank you to AC's Restaurant & Lounge (Chris, Teresa, and Alex Dimopolous), BA DJ services (Adam and Braydon Morisseau), as well as the Cochrane Rangers' Soccer Board.
On a side note: The Cochrane Rangers Board would like to thank everyone who organized the event and everyone who came, we hope to make it an annual party.
